FAQs
What makes ROWDY different from pasta sauces in the supermarket?
Where do we start! Most supermarket sauces are loaded with added sugar, seed oils, thickeners, and flavour enhancers — basically industrial shortcuts to something that vaguely resembles the real thing.
ROWDY is the opposite. Our sauces are made slowly, in small batches, with only whole-food ingredients. No shortcuts, no fillers, no UPFs — Exactly the kind of sauces Italians make at home.
How long do they keep? How should I store them?
Our sauces are fresh and contain no preservatives, so they need to be kept chilled in the refrigerator. Use the sauce within a few days of purchase and stick to the 'USE BY' date on your packaging. Full storage instructions are on the label.
How do I prepare the sauces for eating?
It couldn't be easier — just empty the sauce into a pan and heat over a medium heat for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is piping hot all the way through. In the meantime, cook your pasta, and once that's ready, toss the pasta into the sauce with a ladle of starchy pasta water, mix it up, and you're done. For detailed steps and fun tips, visit our product pages.
Where can I buy ROWDY sauces?
Right now, you can find us at local farmers markets in West Sussex. We're also working on getting into independent delis and farm shops, so keep an eye on our Instagram (@rowdy.sauce) for updates on where we'll be next.
Do you sell online?
Not yet — but we're working on it! Shipping fresh, chilled sauces without the cost becoming ridiculous is a genuine logistical challenge and we want to get it right before we launch. That said, if you really want to get your hands on some ROWDY drop us a message at hello@rowdysauce.co.uk and we'll discuss with you how we can make it happen!
Do you sell wholesale or supply to shops and restaurants?
Yes — we'd love to hear from independent retailers, delis, farm shops, and restaurants who think ROWDY would be a good fit. We're a very small operation, so we need to be selective but the goal is to make ROWDY available everywhere, so get in touch at hello@rowdysauce.co.uk and we'll take it from there.
Are your sauces suitable for vegetarians or vegans?
Our Tomato & Aubergine sauce is 100% vegan. Our Bolognese contains beef and pork, so it's not suitable for vegetarians. Neither sauce currently contains dairy. Always check the packaging for the full ingredient list and allergen information.
Where do your ingredients come from?
We're really proud of this. The hero ingredient in both our sauces — the tomatoes — are 100% Italian San Marzano tomatoes, widely considered the finest cooking tomatoes in the world. They're sweeter, less acidic, and far more flavourful than anything else on the market. For everything else, including our meat, we source the majority of our ingredients from UK suppliers, keeping things as local and traceable as possible.
Do you use any preservatives, fillers, added sugar or seed oils?
Absolutely not. Zero added sugar, no seed oils, no thickeners, no fillers, no artificial flavourings or preservatives, no industrial shortcuts. Clean label isn't a marketing term for us — it's the whole point... along with superb flavour!
